A Whole New Way to Knit

fever dreams #2

I was in a room with a lot of men dressed in medieval clothing in fancy chairs. All around them were long, intricately decorated cast iron caskets connected by brass pipes. The caskets were steaming.

The man in charge told me that they were preparing for a game. The player would have to bowl an iron ball down one of the caskets, striking a bell. If he failed, he would be executed by being placed inside the hot iron casket. If he succeeded, everyone in the room would have to take a turn until someone failed or everyone succeeded.

He urged me to leave, and I did.
